Audiobook of "Dreams Are Unfinished Thoughts" began recording this week.
Since the release of my first novel, "Dreams Are Unfinished Thoughts," back in 2007, I have received quite a few emails and messages from fans voicing their suggestions that an audiobook version of the book would be received with great enthusiasm.
I don't know why it has taken me this long to get the fire under my butt to actually do it, but better late then never, right? On Sunday night, I began recording the audiobook. It's an interesting story how I got to the point where I decided to record it myself, in my own voice.
Originally, I was going to hire a voice actor to record the audiobook for me. I even had multiple narrators read an excerpt for the book as auditions, so I could pick the best fit. I narrowed it down to the two that I like the best, and then discussed it with Stephanie. She made it clear that no one could deliver the narrative with as much emotion as I could, based on the subject matter of the book. I really didn't think that I had any talents at all for recording an audiobook. But, she got me to see that this book needed to be read in my voice.
I set up a makeshift home studio in my daughter's room, since her room is in the middle of our house so it is isolated away from outside noises. The recordings are going great. I have been listening to a multitude of excerpts from other audiobooks so I can get a feel for what a good speaking pace is on a book like this one.
I believe I am doing justice to my book and the topic matter with my voice. It will be a huge milestone for me, personally, when this audiobook gets released and is available for purchase and download, and the book hopefully reaches a larger audience than it ever has before.
